These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Acteams (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who We Are
The Service is operated by acteams.ai ("we", "us", "our"). Questions: legal@acteams.ai.
2. Eligibility
You must be legally able to enter into a contract to use the Service. The Service is not intended for children.
3. Accounts and Security
- You must provide accurate account information.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential.
- You are responsible for activities that occur under your account.
- You must notify us promptly of unauthorized access or security incidents.
4. The Service
The Service provides collaboration features for research teams, including projects, documents (including collaborative editing via Collabora Online), discussions/chat, notes, and literature management.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not:
- Use the Service for unlawful purposes.
- Upload content that infringes rights or violates laws.
- Attempt to access or disrupt the Service or other users.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or related systems.
- Bypass or attempt to bypass access controls or authorization rules.
- Upload malware or content intended to disrupt the Service.
- Send spam, or engage in abusive, harassing, or harmful conduct.
6. Your Content
6.1 Responsibility
You are responsible for the content you upload, create, or share through the Service, including documents, messages, notes, and file attachments ("User Content").
6.2 License to operate the Service
You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, process, and display your User Content only as necessary to provide and secure the Service (including making backups and enabling collaboration features).
6.3 Sensitive data
Unless we expressly agree in writing, do not upload special category data (GDPR Art. 9) or other sensitive information (e.g., health data, biometrics). The Service is not designed for such data.
7. AI Features
The Service may offer optional AI-assisted features (for example, generating citations or helping locate full-text URLs). AI outputs may be incorrect or incomplete, and you are responsible for verifying outputs before relying on them.
You must ensure you have the rights and permissions to submit any inputs you provide to AI features.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service may integrate with third-party services (for example, Collabora Online for document editing or an AI provider). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and policies.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, software, and branding are owned by acteams.ai or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.
10. Availability and Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time. We are not liable for interruptions or loss of access, to the extent permitted by law.
11. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable laws, or where needed to protect the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to the amount paid by you for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so is prohibited by law (for example, liability for intent or gross negligence, or mandatory consumer rights under EU law).
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms and update the "Last updated" date.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany. If you are an EU consumer, you benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your habitual residence.
