Terms of Use

Last updated: 24/04/2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Acteams (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who We Are

The Service is operated by acteams.ai ("we", "us", "our"). Questions: legal@acteams.ai.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally able to enter into a contract to use the Service. The Service is not intended for children.

3. Accounts and Security

4. The Service

The Service provides collaboration features for research teams, including projects, documents (including collaborative editing via Collabora Online), discussions/chat, notes, and literature management.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you will not:

6. Your Content

6.1 Responsibility

You are responsible for the content you upload, create, or share through the Service, including documents, messages, notes, and file attachments ("User Content").

6.2 License to operate the Service

You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, process, and display your User Content only as necessary to provide and secure the Service (including making backups and enabling collaboration features).

6.3 Sensitive data

Unless we expressly agree in writing, do not upload special category data (GDPR Art. 9) or other sensitive information (e.g., health data, biometrics). The Service is not designed for such data.

7. AI Features

The Service may offer optional AI-assisted features (for example, generating citations or helping locate full-text URLs). AI outputs may be incorrect or incomplete, and you are responsible for verifying outputs before relying on them.

You must ensure you have the rights and permissions to submit any inputs you provide to AI features.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party services (for example, Collabora Online for document editing or an AI provider). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and policies.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, software, and branding are owned by acteams.ai or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.

10. Availability and Changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time. We are not liable for interruptions or loss of access, to the extent permitted by law.

11. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable laws, or where needed to protect the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to the amount paid by you for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so is prohibited by law (for example, liability for intent or gross negligence, or mandatory consumer rights under EU law).

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms and update the "Last updated" date.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany. If you are an EU consumer, you benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your habitual residence.

16. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to legal@acteams.ai.
